[ 3D Modeling ]

When Gary first entered the emerging new media industry in 1995, he began with 3D graphics. Here are a few samples of original models that Gary created while learning 3D Studio R4

"Making Models" instructional CD-ROM

In partnership with an authorised training center in Toronto, Gary created fifteen models which were the source material for an instructional CD-ROM on modeling a child's bedroom using Autodesk's 3D Studio software.

Gary wrote detailed instructions on how to create each of his models. Together, these models demonstrated the many powerful modeling features 3D Studio had to offer.

The CD-ROM was called "Making Models in 3D Studio R4" and was published by Autodesk Press.

Rekindling a passion for 3D graphics

Though he became fairly skilled in computer graphics back in 1995, Gary realised that he also enjoyed developing software. After creating a CD-ROM on how to make models with 3D Studio (see Selective Portfolio: 3D Modeling Courseware, Technical Writing), he began pursuing a career in multimedia and Web development.

Luckily, Macromedia Shockwave Studio now includes a powerful 3D graphics engine, enabling Gary to merge his love for 3D with his skills in multimedia development. Using 3DS MAX 4, Shockwave 8.5.1, and the Havok Xtra, Gary has created an exciting game called Shapion. Take it for a spin in the Play Games section!

Now, finally, Gary plans to reenter the 3D scene with a renewed thirst for knowledge, skill development, and experimentation. Watch the site for some creative 3D work very soon.
