It is still in development, but has already been used to create a few Web sites including this one, and it is really simple and efficient to use.

What is it? It's makeSite.pl - a nifty Web site generator that Gary wrote in Perl. It takes a single, plain text source file and generates a complete Web site that includes stateful navigation, a site map, next/previous page navigation arrows, automatically resolved hyperlinks, stylised headings and subheadings, and more!

Efficient and simple

The beauty of the makeSite.pl system is its simplicity. The source file for a site is a simple ASCII text file that can be emailed back and forth between team members.

Output is easily customised

You can customise the look of a site by altering the default graphics files and by adding your own graphical navigation buttons to replace the default textual ones.

makeSite.pl demo

An online working demo has already been created, but it needs instructions and proper framing within the site. When it's ready, you'll be able to enter some source text yourself and have a .zip archive of your newly-created site emailed to you!

Gary believes the makeSite.pl demo page will mark the first time a Net surfer will be able to quickly draft a Web site and have it emailed back instantly!
