Selective Portfolio  -  Dual Screen Kiosk

Sole programmer for the IBM "Money-Go-Round" dual-screen interactive kiosk, located near the entrance of the Toronto Stock Exchange building's "Stock Market Place" visitor centre.

Gary was sub-contracted to IBM for this freelance assignment by the Web Digital group.

Skills Demonstrated:

Lingo Programming (in Macromedia Director)

Serial communications programming via DirectComm Xtra

Efficient coordination with management, graphic artists and testers

Kiosk development

Using Lingo, wrote two-way serial communications protocol routines by which independent input and overhead display applications, each running on a separate PC, communicated with each other

Wrote both the touch-screen input application and the overhead display application, with the exception of some basic animation code

All code was modular, making modifications and additions to the programs very simple. Gary also circumvented some basic Director limitations simulating a multi-threaded application.

Great care and foresight ensured a robust and 'Gremlin-resistant' kiosk
